The market

Two downtowns, a dozen job centers and buyers who expect a straight answer

The Census Bureau puts the Dallas, Fort Worth and Arlington metro at 8,344,032 people as of July 2024. It is really two markets stitched together. The Dallas side runs east through Collin, Denton, Rockwall and Kaufman counties. The Fort Worth side runs west through Tarrant, Parker, Johnson and Wise. A buyer in Grapevine and a buyer in Rockwall may never cross paths.

The headline is corporate. The Dallas Regional Chamber counts 21 Fortune 500 and 44 Fortune 1000 headquarters here. Toyota sits at Legacy West in Plano. Caterpillar, Fluor and Kimberly-Clark are in Las Colinas. AT&T has Whitacre Tower Downtown. Those names pull in thousands of suppliers, contractors and service firms, and that is usually who you are selling to.

The real volume is mid-size. County Business Patterns lists 189,739 establishments in the metro, and 54,970 of them have 10 or more employees. Most are run by an owner or a GM who still picks vendors after one call and one meeting. North Texas buyers are polite on the phone. They will also tell you no before you finish your opener if you waste their time. Lead with the problem you fix, name a company type down the road from them, and ask for a short meeting. Then follow up when you said you would. Out here that alone puts you ahead of most vendors.

Where we aim the calls in North Texas

Six job centers with six different kinds of buyer.

Downtown Dallas

AT&T, Tenet Healthcare, Comerica, Hunt Oil, 7-Eleven and Neiman Marcus headquarter here, ringed by law and finance offices. Office managers, controllers and managing partners buy IT, insurance, staffing and anything that frees up their people.

Las Colinas in Irving

Home to Caterpillar, Fluor, Celanese, Commercial Metals, Kimberly-Clark, Mission Foods and Trend Micro. The executives are hard to reach, but their facilities, procurement and regional ops teams take meetings with vendors who show up prepared.

Legacy West in Plano

Toyota North America, a JPMorgan Chase regional campus, Liberty Mutual, FedEx Office, JCPenney and NTT Data. Expect corporate gatekeepers, plus a long tail of smaller firms that moved north to be close to them.

Telecom Corridor in Richardson

US-75 between I-635 and the Bush Turnpike, with AT&T, Ericsson, Verizon, Samsung, Fujitsu and Texas Instruments nearby and UT Dallas at the top. Software, IT and engineering buyers live here, and they read LinkedIn before they pick up.

AllianceTexas in north Fort Worth

Hillwood counts 602 companies and 73,134 direct jobs on I-35W, around Perot Field Fort Worth Alliance Airport and the BNSF intermodal yard. Warehouse GMs and site leaders buy staffing, cleaning, equipment and freight help.

International Inland Port of Dallas

Distribution parks across Wilmer, Hutchins and Lancaster in southern Dallas County, built by Prologis, Duke Realty and Southport Logistics Park. Tenants like Unilever, Whirlpool and Wayfair keep 3PLs, carriers and labor providers busy.

Calling Dallas–Fort Worth

How we work the DFW phones

Six area codes cover the core of the Metroplex, and they split roughly at the county line. 214, 972, 469 and 945 are the Dallas side, from Downtown up to Plano and out past Rockwall. 817 and 682 are Fort Worth, Arlington and the western counties. The 972 range also serves DFW Airport. A 940 number usually means Denton or further north.

Our partners work from Nigeria, six hours ahead of Dallas in summer and seven in winter. We shift our day so every call lands inside the Central workday, never at dawn or dinner.

Owners at Alliance and the inland port pick up early, before the docks get loud. Las Colinas and Legacy offices are better mid-morning. Friday afternoons are close to useless anywhere in North Texas. Every booked meeting goes into your CRM with notes from the call.

Local rules

Fort Worth requires door-to-door vendors, including walk-ins at businesses, to register with the city. That covers in-person canvassing, not calls, email or LinkedIn. We found no Dallas or Fort Worth rule on phone solicitation beyond state and federal law.

Appointment setting for a California AI company

Cynthia spent more than two years as an appointment setter for a California AI company, working a high-volume phone desk: 300+ outbound calls a day, qualifying each lead against what the company offered, handling objections and booking the meeting. Safiya and Sylvia also worked on that company’s outbound team.

Questions

Questions from Dallas–Fort Worth teams

Will someone from Trifecta show up at my prospect's office in Dallas?

No. We have no office or staff in Texas. Our three partners call from Lagos, Abuja and Enugu during Central hours. You or your closer run the meeting. We book it and write up what the prospect said.

Do you split Dallas and Fort Worth, or treat it as one market?

We split them. A Tarrant County owner does not want a pitch that name-drops Plano. We build separate lists and openers for each side, then report on them separately so you see which one books.

Can you get meetings with the big HQs in Las Colinas and Legacy West?

Sometimes, at the regional or department level. With corporate campuses we usually aim for facilities, procurement or a division head, not the C-suite. For most clients the better money is the mid-size companies doing business with those HQs.

How does the cost compare with hiring an SDR in Dallas?

BLS puts the median services sales rep in this metro at $63,280 a year. Add benefits, a dialer, data and your own time managing them. Our team is in Nigeria, so our fees come in below that. We quote after a discovery call.

Are there city rules on B2B calling in Dallas or Fort Worth?

Not that we found. Fort Worth's registration rule is for in-person door-to-door selling, and Dallas's permit covers home solicitation. Texas and federal law still apply to calls and email, and we follow them. Ask your counsel about your specific offer.

Can you book meetings around local events?

Yes. If you are going to the Dallas Regional Chamber Annual Meeting, the Fort Worth Chamber Annual Meeting or DFW Startup Week, we can call ahead and fill your week with meetings nearby.
